FOUNDATION
This program is designed for individuals that may need to acquire the background, breadth of knowledge or industry connections that enable them to be hired as electrical apprentices. An electrical foundation program, as prescribed by the Industry Training Authority (ITA), would give students the practical and theoretical skills equivalent to a level one apprentice providing learners the opportunity to explore and pursue a career within the electrical trade. This program is taught to the content as prescribed by the ITA in the Construction Electrician Foundation Program Profile which states:

“Credit for Apprenticeship:
Individuals who complete the Construction Electrician Foundation Program will receive Level 1 technical training credit and 350 work-based hours credit towards completion of the Construction Electrician Level 1 apprenticeship program”.

The students will:

  • acquire the knowledge and skills needed according to the National Occupational Analysis (NOA) for the electrical trade
  • learn safe job-site practices
  • acquire appropriate work habits for the industry
  • learn to read codes and drawings used in the trade
  • acquire the essential skills that underlie effective communication and professional attitudes
