GED

The General Educational Development (GED) is a set of five multiple choice tests in the areas of language arts writing, language arts reading, social studies, science and mathematics.  Application forms to write the GED may be picked up at Kwantlen's Counselling and Advising Department or by visiting:  http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/ged

Please Note:  Kwantlen Polytechnic University cannot register students or take payment for the GED Test--the application form and payment must be sent to the Ministry of Education in Victoria (Address is on the bottom of the application form).

Additional Information:

  • Identification:  Photo identification is required.  Identification must have a recognizable photo and your signature.  Suitable identification would include:  Driver's License, valid passport with current photo, BCID, or Citizenship card.
  • Please be sure to bring your Social Insurance Number with you when you write the tests.  This is the identification number that the GED Testing Service in Victoria uses to identify who you are, mark your test answers, and record marks.
  • Parking:  Paid parking is in effect.  Details can be found here.

Applications must be received by the Ministry of Education, GED Testing Service, ON or BEFORE the CUT-OFF DATE.

If your application is received in the GED Testing Service office AFTER THE CUT-OFF DEADLINE, you automatically will be scheduled for the next testing date available at your requested writing location.

*** In addition to Regular Testing, these two testing sessions are also open to GED Examinees requiring SPECIAL NEEDS adaptations. SPECIAL NEEDS refers to ANY type of modification outside the normally scheduled testing times and days.

Anyone requesting special testing adaptations should pick up a Special Needs Form from the GED examiner at their local regional college or print a copy from this website. Due to the time required to investigate and approve/disapprove these cases, examinees requesting Special Needs adaptations must submit their application form, writing fees, Special Needs Form, and Medical Documentation to the GED Testing Service at least SIX WEEKS PRIOR to the writing date. ***

Testing sessions are subject to cancellation due to low enrolment.

Testing Day Schedule

Friday:  Testing will begin at 6:00 pm and finish at approximately 10:00 pm.  Candidates are required to report at 5:45 pm on Friday evening.  Testing will begin promptly at 6:00 pm.

  • Test 1:  Writing Skills (Part 1 - 75 minutes, Part 2 - 45 minutes)
  • Test 4:  Language Arts - Reading (65 Minutes)

Saturday:  Testing will begin at 9:00 am and finish at approximately 2:00 pm.  Candidates are also required to report at 8:45 am on Saturday.  Testing will begin promptly at 9:00 am.

  • Test 2:  Socials (70 minutes)
  • Test 3:  Science (80 minutes)
  • Test 5:  Math (90 minutes)

Re-writes:

  • Report at 6:00 pm on Friday if writing Test 1 and/or 4.
  • Report at 9:00 am on Saturday if writing any of Tests 2, 3, or 5.
