Philosophers' Cafés Spring 2010
- What is common sense?
- Can everyone (including institutions like Governments, Corporations and Unions) be trusted to do the right things for humanity?
- What would be a "perfect human"?
- What is afterlife? Can science support the concept of life after death?
- What basic assumption underpins your philosophy of life?
- What purpose does civil disobedience serve?
- Is wildlife protection important? Why?
You don't have to be a philosopher to participate in these stimulating sessions. If you enjoy listening to people delve into the topics listed providing their own and often controversial perspectives, or if you have insights or perspectives to offer, you will enjoy these Cafés. Some Cafés will have a featured speaker to introduce the topic and all sessions are moderated to limit discussion to one speaker at a time and to ensure everyone gets a chance to say their piece.
We hope you will join us and discuss these thought provoking topics where listeners are as welcome as speakers.
- Open to the Public
- Suggested minimum $2.00 donation for each Café
- Food & beverage orders from 11:30. Presentation and discussion from 11:45 onwards
- No pre-registration necessary, but admission will be on a “first come, first served” basis as space permits
