Mobile and Telecommunication Devices
Ordering New Cell Phones
Kwantlen Public Sector Customers
Cellular phones and mobility devices, including BlackBerry® devices for approved administrative requirements, must be ordered from the Supply & Business Services department.
These devices are the property of Kwantlen and provided for a specific position or requirement, and assigned to an individual associated with that position. The device is to be retained by the position and reallocated when staffing changes occur.
Only approved devices will be interfaced to the Kwantlen IET network as established by Policy D.5 BlackBerry® and Cellular Phone Requests.
The following steps are required when ordering a new or replacement Kwantlen-approved mobility device:
Step 1
Contact Supply & Business Services at 604-599-2136 or email supply@kwantlen.ca for a list of currently approved devices and public sector contract options available from Rogers or TELUS.
Please use links to learn more about their products and network coverage.
TELUS
Step 2
Submit a Requisition to Supply and Business Services Department with the following information:
Mobile device requested, with a specific model number if known and a $100 estimated if a new account and $300 for a replacement device. If requesting a replacement device, please provide the existing mobile device number and the mobile device model requested.
Please mark the vendor name on the Requisition: Rogers/Cellcom or BWireless
Cellular phone service charge of $25/mo can be estimated. Please mark this amount on the requisition along with the user’s name.
BlackBerry® service charge for voice and data of $60/mo can be estimated. Please mark this amount on the requisition along with the user’s name.
Note: If a new mobile device is required by a Kwantlen department, the annual service cost will be estimated with a onetime budget transfer from the department budget to Kwantlen's centralized mobility budget.
Monthly service charges and usage plans are reviewed semi-annually by Supply & Business Services and are optimized as required to ensure the best plan is maintained based on level of usage.
Note: Your mobile device service can access all local and North America wide long distance calls, but is blocked at time of issue for international long distance calls outside of North America. If you need to unblock and make international device calls from your cellular device, please advise Supply Management, who can make this change on your behalf.
Step 3
On receipt of your mobile device, IET will set up your interface to our network, if applicable. Please contact IET Help Desk at 604-599-2116 for Kwantlen network setup on mobile devices.
IET will activate and deliver the device, accessories, and support along with providing details to Supply & Business Services to add to our database base of mobile devices.
