Financial Assistance & Equipment Loans
Canada Student Grant for Persons with Permanent Disabilities (CSGP-PD) – If you’re a student with a permanent disability studying part-time or full-time, you may qualify for a grant up to $2000 per program year.
Supplemental Bursary for Students with Disabilities (SBSD) - This provincial bursary is available to part-time and full-time students with permanent disabilities who are enrolled in university level courses. This is to assist students with exceptional costs such as transportation, specialized clothing, etc. A $400 bursary is available to part-time students who qualify for a Canada Student grant for persons with permanent disabilities, and an $800 bursary is available to full-time students who qualify for the Canada Student grant for persons with permanent disabilities.
British Columbia Access Grant (BCAG) - A grant of approximately $1000 for full-time students to replace student loan funding. If you are eligible for a student loan and you are a student with a permanent disability you automatically qualify for the grant.
Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment for Persons with Permanent Disabilities (CSGP-SEPD) - Up to $8000 per loan year for equipment and services. Contact the Disability Advisor, to discuss equipment loan requirements.
Learning Disability Assessment Bursary (LDAB) - If you have a learning disability and require an updated Assessment and are attending a post-secondary institution part-time or full-time you may qualify for a bursary up to $1800. You must demonstrate financial need and be enrolled in post-secondary level courses. Contact the Disability Advisor on any campus to discuss the bursary. Funds are limited.
Learning Disabilities Assessment Reimbursement - Students who complete a psycho-educational assessment by a registered psychologist and are diagnosed as having a learning disability may qualify for a 75% refund of the cost of the assessment (max $1200) if they demonstrate financial need.
Adult Basic Education Student Assistance Program (ABESAP) - Students who are taking upgrading classes at a Post-Secondary Institution may qualify for this if they show financial need. This is for students who are taking adult basic education, English as a second language and/or adult special education.
Assistance Program for Students with Disabilities (APSD) - Make application directly to the Ministry.
