Asian Studies
BACHELOR OF ARTS, ASIAN STUDIES Major or Minor
APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR FALL 2011!

In this four-year integrated interdisciplinary Asian
Studies program, students will develop the intellectual and cultural skills
that will enable them to operate successfully in a rapidly changing world where
the leading countries of East and South Asia are becoming increasingly
influential. With Kwantlen campuses situated within Asia-rich communities,
students will have the opportunity to apply their learning and earn credit through
practicum placements and Asia-related research, a unique feature of this degree
in the province.
With this interdisciplinary degree, students will
choose from a breadth of disciplines such as Asian Studies, History, Geography,
Sociology and a variety of different Asian Language studies in order to forge a
program that suits their particular interest and career goals. Students will
gain valuable essential skills that prepare them for careers in public and
community service, local and international business, public administration,
religious studies, social work, law or policing, or prepare them for admission
to graduate studies.
Admission to the Bachelor of Arts Degree programs
requires English 12 (B) and Principles of Math (C) or their equivalencies.
Bachelor of Arts students receive priority registration for their courses from
year one. Students who do not meet the admission requirements have the option
to enroll in a BA Qualifying Year where they may begin their degree studies
while completing course upgrades while enjoying the benefits of being a BA
degree student.
