The Insights Grants application form is now available. For more information, visit the SSHRC website.
This new opportunity is open to both emerging and established scholars who are normally affiliated with an eligible Canadian post-secondary institution. The deadline for submitting applications was October 15, 2011. However, see below for information on Multiple Grant Applications for guidelines for applying in a different calendar year, i.e. 2012.
We invite you to consult the updated Insight umbrella program description for information on the notional competition budget, updated priority area descriptions and links to related opportunities such as the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s (CFI) Leaders Opportunity Fund. Multiple Grant Applications
Researchers may not apply for an Insight Grant and an Insight Development Grant within the same calendar year as applicant (principal investigator).
This means:
A researcher who applied for an Insight Development Grant in February 2011 may not apply for an Insight Grant in October 2011, whether successful in the competition or not.
A researcher who applies for an Insight Grant in October 2011 may apply for an Insight Development Grant in February 2012, provided that the objectives of the research are different.
However:
Researchers whose application to Insight Development Grants in February 2011 was declared ineligible, may submit an application to the 2011 Insight Grants competition if all other eligibility criteria are met.
There is no limit to the number of applications on which a researcher may be listed as a co-applicant or collaborator.
If a researcher holds a grant, she or he may re-apply to the same funding opportunity in the final year of the grant.
