Kwantlen Challenge Week 09

Get Involved ~ Give Back Challenge!

 

Thanks to all who participated in Challenge Week!

You raised over $700 to benefit the Free the Children's Education Campaign.

Participation numbers: For the first time ever, students beat the employees (60 students to 20 employees) Nice work!
Interesting Challenges:

  • The Public Safety Communications class held a bake sale and raised $300 to support the campaign!
  • Linda Gomes challenged numerous colleagues to competitive Scrabble, and remained undefeated through the week. Some even donated in order to avoid the scrabble!

  • Elise and Kurt challenged themselves to climb the Chief, the Lions and the Grouse Grind in one day…and survived.

How do I get involved?

You can lead a group, join a group, or do an activity on your own. REGISTER by filling out this form and bringing it into any campus bookstore with your minimum $5 donation.

Lead a group -- You could even challenge another group!

Group leaders can lead either closed or open group activities. Let us know what, when, where, and what contact you would like to use. We'll advertise your activity if you are leading an open activity. Email us with information about your activity here

*Surrey Scrabble Challenge* Interested in a scrabble duel? Ms. Linda Gomes will donate an extra $10 for every game she loses! Games are 12:00-1:00 daily. Linda.gomes@kwantlen.ca

  • Tues Sept 22, Public Safety Communications Bake Sale - purchase by minimum donation [News flash: This group raised $300 for the campaign with their bake sale...Tally Wade challenges other classes to get involved this week and make a difference. "Beat us if you can!"

OTHER ACTIVITIES OR CHALLENGES:

  • The Grouse Grind - Sunday Sept 27th, 8:00am. Keith Wallace and a group of Business students...others welcome.
  • Fri Sept 25, A Kwantlen duo will take on the "3-Peak Challenge": Summit the Chief, The Lions and The Grouse Grind on this day. The team will donate extra if they don't make all three.  Follow their progress on Twitter during the day: Twitter.com/3PeakChallenge
  • Chris Burns, Elaine Decker, Julia Denker and Gloria Lee all took on Linda Gomes' Scrabble Challenge...so far Linda is undefeated.
  • Sat Sept 26, Harmen Kahlon is leading a group walk in Q.E. and/or Bear Creek Park. This activity is full.
  • Sun Sept 26, Harmen Kahlon is leading a walk at Crescent Beach. This activity is full.
  • Apparently doing all the stairs at Surrey campus (23 flights) up and down takes between 14 and 18 minutes -- if you take on that challenge, make sure to be reasonable, safe and don't run anyone over...
