Kwantlen’s Parent Orientation program is designed to give you the tools and information you need to make the most of your student’s time here. Together, we will review the ins and outs of the student experience, everything from making sense of course planning and registration, to accessing the tools and resources we have available to help students achieve academic, career, and personal successes.

9:15 am – 10 am – Campus tour (must RSVP for campus tour when registering for event)
10 am – 11 am – Student Enrollment Services Information Session
11 am – 11:15 am – Interactive Kwanten Fair - a chance to talk to the Kwantlen staff and get your questions answered.
11:15 – 12 pm – “My Life at Kwanten” – Hear from current Kwantlen parents, instructors and student life staff about their role and experiences at the university.
Registration Essentials: Information for Parents - An introduction to course and program planning for post-secondary. Parents will receive an overview of important information related to registration procedures and deadlines in addition to course planning essentials.

"What every Instructor wants parents to know about first year university" - Seeing a child attend university is a big step in the lives of many parents.You want your child to experience success and make good use of money spent on tuition, but what is a parent's role in that?Is your son or daughter mature, independent, responsible, and academically prepared?Or do you have some doubts?As an Instructor I will give you the inside story on what first year students can expect in terms of lectures, assignments, exams and grades, as well as the difference between high school and university and how you can support your son or daughter through this transition.
Parent to Parent - Surviving the First Year Experience. As our sons and daughters enter into university study we see them struggle with increasing independence, balancing priorities, adjusting lifestyles and making decisions for themselves. At the same time we want to help them to make the most of this opportunity to 'get ahead' in life.How do we let go enough to enable our young adults develop the self-confidence and competence they need to thrive in this new environment?
WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?Life as a University Student - The possibilities that university holds for new students ARE exciting! At the same time many students are uncertain about their place in the university. We will EXPLORE common questions that new students have about university life. We will also talk about the ways students can make the most of their experience at Kwantlen so that they can maximize their education and develop all the abilities necessary to succeed in their studies and beyond.
