Student Instructions for Kwantlen Job Postings System

Help for Students

The Kwantlen Job Postings System has been created for Kwantlen alumni, current students, current employees and employers.

STEP 1: Creating a Student Account

As alumni, students or employees to register you will need to complete a "Student Registration" form.

Your student ID and your birth date on record and a current email address are required to submit the student registration form.

Once you have submitted your registration, it will be processed by an automated system. You should receive a confirmation email that you have registered and that your registration should take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours to process.

Note: If you do not receive the initial confirmation that your registration has been received, there may be an issue with the email address you have provided.

Processing your registration should take about 1 to 1.5 hours. Once processed you will receive an email with your account information and instructions on how to proceed.

Note: Due to regular server maintenance, students who register between 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (Pacific Time) can expect their registration to be processed after 8:00 a.m. the following morning.

If you do not receive an email after 2 hours your registration may not have been able to be validated. In this case please contact Career Services, Keith Wong at 604-599-3264 or email Keith.Wong@Kwantlen.ca. Please note that registering for a student account a 2nd time will not validate as each student number is only allowed to be registered once.

STEP 2: Updating your profile

Now that you have your account information you may login using the login information provided in the email you received.

Please note your username for this application is not used in any other Kwantlen logins and you will need to logout of this application before accessing other Kwantlen web sites that require authentication.

OK now that you are logged in there will be additional sidebar links available. Select the "MY PROFILE" link and select edit to make any changes.

You will be able to do the following from your profile …

  • update your name, phone number, email address and add a home page URL (Note: these fields are only used for this account not other Kwantlen accounts)
  • choose whether to receive email updates for future postings
  • select preferred employment categories (useful for filtering emails based on the preferred job postings you selected)
  • use the RSS link to add a RSS feed of current postings to a RSS news reader (click here to learn more about this exciting feature - login is required)
  • update and change your password (this should be done after logging into your profile for the first time and should be completed with 1 hour)

Once updates save your changes by selecting the submit button.

Note: Once you have added a resume you be able to manage that resume in the "My Resume Information" at the bottom of your profile. This includes viewing, editing and deleting your resume. Resumes that have a status of active are searchable by employers, draft resumes are not searchable.

STEP 3: Adding Your Resume

The first time you select the "MY RESUME" link from the left side bar you will be presented with a resume form to complete.

The resume consists of the following

  • contact information,
  • affiliation to Kwantlen,
  • job availability,
  • preferred employment categories (inherited values from profile but can be edited),
  • status of the resume (draft which allows you to work on your resume and active which makes your resume searchable by employers),
  • page format (Text or HTML, the choice is yours, if you choose HTML you will need to add in or paste valid HTML code or your resume may not produce the results you expect).

When you are ready you can submit your resume by selecting the save/submit button.

Note: You will be able to edit, switch between active and draft, text and html at any time. If you wish to delete your resume you may do so from your profile.

STEP 4: View Job Postings

This of course you could have done after logging into your account for the first time.

This system also provides dynamic RSS feeds which allows users familiar with RSS the ability to add these feeds to a RSS reader.

You will find help on RSS on our RSS pages (Information on RSS - login is required).
