Census

Statistics Canada conducts a census of the country's population every five years, most recently in 2006. Most Canadian demographic information is based upon this national Census which provides data on population size, age, income, occupation, ethnicity, and much more. Census data is available in many forms and through many sources. Please see the library's Census guide for further information.

Statistics Canada divides up the country geographically in several ways. You can view a list of these areas hierarchically with this chart , or use this handy Illustrated Glossary to 'translate' Census terms into plain language. Kwantlen users can access Census information for areas as small as a Dissemination Area. Please see the library's Census Geography guide for further information.
