MODL Field Schools Summer 2012
The Modern Languages Department will have field school trips to France, Germany, and Japan in May of 2012. Students participating in the Paris Language Field School can also choose to participate in the Berlin Field School or the Fine Arts Field School Paris.

PARLEZ-VOUS FRANÇAIS?
Ever wanted to see the Eiffel Tower, sit in a French café or stroll down the Champs-Elysées? Now you can, all while earning credit toward your degree! Join Kwantlen’s France Field School and broaden your global perspective by experiencing the French culture and language first hand with your fellow classmates and Kwantlen faculty.

Classes at Kwantlen: May 1—May 19 
Depart for Paris: May 20
Return to Vancouver: June 3
Price
The program fee is $1800 and includes accommodation, in-country transportation, field trips, 3 dinners and a movie night. Flight, personal expenses, additional meals and tuition and fees are not included.
Classes Offered
Classes are instructed by a Kwantlen Faculty member. Students can enroll in FREN 2200. Pre-requisites: French 11, FREN 1101, or assessment by instructor.

Highlights
Enjoy many famous attractions such as: the Champs-Elysées, la Sorbonne, the Eiffel Tower, the Palace of Versailles, the Centre Pompidou, the Louvre Museum, the Orsay Museum, the Quartier Latin, Place de la Bastille, l’Arc de Triomphe, and Montmartre Sacré-Coeur. BERLIN FIELD SCHOOL 2012
SPRECHEN SIE DEUTSCH?
Visit Berlin, a historical German city where the past and present collide. Rather than just reading about it, go there, experience it first hand, and earn credit toward your degree all at the same time! Join Kwantlen’s Berlin Field School and travel and learn alongside your fellow classmates and Kwantlen faculty.

Price
The program fee is $1650 and includes accommodation, in-country transportation, field trips, breakfast each day and 80% of dinners. Flight, personal expenses, some meals and tuition are not included.
Classes Offered
Classes are instructed by a Kwantlen Faculty member. Students can enroll in GERM 1100 and/or CUST 3300. Pre-requisites for CUST 3300: ENGL 1100 and (one of ENGL 1202 or ENGL 1204 or CRWR 1100 or FINA 1121) and 3 credits from any 2000-level course or higher. Students who are interested in joining the Field School who would like to take a different level of German should contact the instructor.

JAPAN FIELD SCHOOL 2012
LEARN, EXPLORE, BE INSPIRED
Learn Japanese culture and be inspired by the beauty and splendor of ancient and modern Japan as you visit historical sites and major tourist attractions while earning credit towards your degree. Also get a local’s perspective as you explore Japan with Japanese students from Kwantlen’s partner institutions in Nagoya, Kyoto, and Tokyo.

Price
The program fee is $2700 and includes accommodation and field trips. This does not include your flight, tuition, meals, in-country transportation, and personal expenses.
Classes Offered
Classes are instructed by a Kwantlen Faculty member. Students can enroll in CUST 1200, CUST 3XXX, FINA 1100, and/or FINA 1110. The pre-requisite for students wishing to take CUST 3XXX is CUST 1200.
Highlights
Visiting places that are significant socially, culturally, and historically; meeting Japanese students to explore each city together; getting a maximum of 9 credits.
