Initiating Staffing Requests
The following applies to new and replacement positions for Administration, Faculty and Staff (BCGEU).
Position Request Form
The Administrative Supervisor will complete a Position Request Form (PRF) for all postings and forward it to the appropriate Vice President. If requesting a new position or changing a position (e.g., changing it from a repeating term position to a 12 month position), rationale for the position, including a general outline of the work to be performed must be included.
Also required for a new or changed position:
- The reason(s) why the position should be approved
- The cost implications
- The impact on the University College and its service to students (directly or indirectly)
- Requirements for workspace, furniture, equipment and computing facilities
The Vice President:
Will sign the PRF once he/she approves the posting of an existing position
-or-
When a new position is requested:
- Will take the request(s) that he/she supports to the management team
- If the management team recommends filling the position, and the President concurs, the PRF is signed and forwarded to the Human Resources Department for action
- If the Management team does not recommend filling the position, the Vice President may seek approval directly from the President
- If approval is not received, the Vice President will advise the initiating Administrative Supervisor
