I have taught in this program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University for ten years. My nursing career has involved working with older people in both community and facility settings. I am committed to helping students develop into care givers who provide person centered care.

Judith has completed her Master's degree at the University of British Columbia and is presently teaching in the Home Support Resident Care Attendant program. Her main areas of interest are in gerontology, clinical education and the professional development of unlicensed health care workers. She is presently exploring alternative models for clinical education that will address some of the current issues that are threatening the student's opportunity for meaningful practice experiences. The Shared Learning Unit intends to improve clinical capacity through the development of the interdisciplinary team and the opportunity for learning by all participants, staff and students alike.

Sue graduated with an RN diploma in 1974 from Kitchener-Waterloo School of Nursing. This was the last class that graduated from a hospital school of nursing. She has worked in the field of nursing most of that time in everything from a Surgical ICU to a nursing home. Along the way Sue earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Western Ontario, a Bachelor's in nursing from the University of Victoria and A Diploma in Adult Education form the University of British Columbia. In the past few years Sue has worked as a home care nurse, a nursing supervisor in a home support agency and finally now, an instructor of Home Support/Resident Care Attendant students. She has enjoyed each opportunity for increasing knowledge, skill and getting to know wonderful co-workers and clients/patients/residents and their families along the journey.

Cherry is a Registered Nurse who graduated from VGH and then attended the University of Alberta. She has a BSc in Nursing. She has worked as a nurse for over 25 years in acute care, education, home nursing care and continuing care. She has taught in the HSRCA program since 1993. She teaches both theory and clinical courses. She loves to ask questions that have more than one answer.


Lorraine Guild, BScN

Lorraine graduated with an Associate of Arts in Nursing (RN Diploma) in 1990 from Camosun College in Victoria, BC. She specialized in paediatrics and worked for 2 years afterwards before returning to UVIC to complete her BScN, graduating with distinction in 1999. She has worked for almost 20 years as a nurse in a myriad of positions including; paediatrics, paediatric homecare, peritoneal dialysis, acute care, palliative care, rehabilitation, gerontology and education. She is currently teaching theory and clinical courses in the HSRCA Program as well as maintaining a casual status as a nurse at Peace Ach Hospital. Career aspirations include; teaching students collaboratively through leadership, support and mentoring to enter this exciting and rewarding healthcare profession with competence, confidence and compassion.
