Board of Governors Role
The Kwantlen Polytechnic University Board of Governors uses a Policy Governance® model.
The Board is community focused and future oriented. The Board sets the direction for the University.
Board of Governors Related Duties
In addition to setting the vision for the University and monitoring its progress, the Board is also involved with other activities:
- Representing the University to its owners through community events
- Supporting University activities
- Holding education workshops for the Board to better understand the University’s needs and issues

With these values in mind, the board will govern with an emphasis on:
- outward vision rather than an internal preoccupation;
- encouragement of diversity in viewpoints;

- future rather than past or present, and
- proactivity rather than reactivity.
Kwantlen Polytechnic University Board Composition
The Board of Governors at Kwantlen consists of 14 members. Eight are appointed by the provincial government, four are elected – two students, one faculty member and one staff member – and the President of Kwantlen and the Chair of Education Council are ex-officio members.
