Faculty of Community and Health Studies - A New Home on the Langley Campus

The Faculty of Community and Health Studies (CAHS) will have a new home in 2012. Kwantlen is investing $7 million to consolidate and relocate the faculty into a refurbished and expanded building on the Langley campus. The building will be entirely gutted and a second storey added, allowing the creation of four new nursing labs, four simulation (SIM) labs and a home care lab. Observation and debrief rooms, classrooms and study areas will be located adjacent to the labs.

Having all CAHS learners, faculty and staff in one location will create opportunities for interprofessional learning, synergies between faculty and staff and the ability to collaborate on future integration of curricula and programming. It will make study more convenient for learners, lessening their need for time-consuming travel between campuses. The building will also have a significant impact on recruitment, encouraging the region’s best and brightest to study at Kwantlen.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is launching a $1.5 million campaign to provide the very latest in audio-visual and simulation technology that will maximize learning opportunities for our students. Simulation laboratories will replicate health care settings as closely as possible with technology in place to record and stream simulations, enhancing learning through the ability to provide detailed feedback in a constructive and non-threatening environment.
