Regalia

Standards for Academic Dress:


At Kwantlen Polytechnic University, all graduates wear a black gown of Oxford shape and a black cap with a black tassel.  Graduates of our bachelor degree programs wear hoods in the Aberdeen style, made of black pilgrim cloth and bordered with a one half inch border. The border of each hood is a specific colour that identifies a particular area of study. Post Baccalaureate degrees include silver or gold cording:

  • Bachelor of Applied Arts in Psychology: Black hood with cream border
  • Bachelor of Design, Fashion and Technology: Black hood with bilberry border 
  • Bachelor of Design, Graphic Design for Marketing: Black hood with bilberry border
  • Bachelor of Interior Design: Black hood with bilberry border
  • Bachelor of Journalism: Black Hood with green border
  • Bachelor of Arts in Community Criminal Justice: Black hood with red border
  • Bachelor of Arts: Black hood with red border
  • Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting: Black hood with silver border
  • Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Leadership: Black hood with silver border
  • Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources Management: Black hood with silver border
  • Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing Management: Black hood with silver border
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts, Visual Arts: Black hood with sugar beet border
  • Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing: Black hood with crimson border

  • Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology: Black hood with gold/Aztec border

Honorary Degree Recipients

All Honorary degree recipients wear an eight sided tam of navy blue velvet with gold bullion cord tassels. The gown is of Oxford shape using maroon pilgrim cloth for the body and sleeves, with three navy blue velvet chevrons and silver velvet panels. Hoods for honorary graduates are of intercollegiate style, maroon in colour to match the gowns, with a sugarbeet satin lining, a silver satin chevron and trim,  and grey piping.
