BEAT THE STREETS YOUTH HOMELESSNESS INITIATIVE

Family and Youth Services Society and Aldergrove Neighbourhood Services are currently looking for young adults in the Langley area to participate in our youth mentorship program. This is a skilled based position which requests that young adults be matched with a youth between the ages of 16-19.In a buddy system, your role as a mentor will be to teach and support one youth while they transition to independent living. The role is designed not to limit the mentor from their everyday life but rather to accommodate situations where youth and a mentor can both be successful in reaching their goals. This program provides mentors with a great opportunity to gain experience while still attending school, working or attempting to get into the social services field.

What is the Beat the Streets Youth Homelessness Initiative?

The Beat the Streets Youth Homelessness Initiative is a program which targets barriered, at risk or homeless youth with programming which is youth specific and designed to give an environment which is safe, supportive and predictable.  By pairing youth with youth mentors, the program will provide a stable long term housing solution for barriered youth which are currently "running the circuit" by transitioning in and out of care.
