Secondary School Teacher
The following is provided as a summary. For official information, please refer to the website of the appropriate institution or organization.
What do I need to become a Secondary School Teacher?
Secondary school teachers teach children from grade eight to grade twelve. To become a secondary school teacher in BC, you will need a combination of academic study and professional teacher training. A Certificate of Qualification issued by the BC College of Teachers is required for all teachers who want to teach in the public school system in BC.
Normally, a four-year bachelor's degree is recommended for admission to a teacher training program. However, it is possible for elementary school applicants to enter prior to degree completion.
What can I do at Kwantlen?
You can complete the academic requirements for the teacher training program or a full four-year bachelor's degree at Kwantlen.
