Faculty Learning Communities
Alice Macpherson, Balbir Gurm, Tally Wade, Gerald Horne, Geoff Dean, and many others - Faculty Learning Communities, now into its fifth year, this program connects faculty members and gives support to collegial conversations and project that support the scholarship of teaching and learning at Kwantlen and beyond. In 2005/2006 this Faculty Learning Community pilot program had participation by 187 individual members of the Kwantlen teaching community who logged 289 registrations over a variety of professional development activities. These collegial interactions have sparked interest in sharing scholarly teaching and developing the scholarship of teaching and learning at Kwantlen. In 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 we continued this initiative and supported a variety of projects that are initiated by individual Alliance groups. We offer a paper and a poster here that were presented at the 2006 International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSoTL) in Washington, DC.
