Seven Principles for Good Practice in Undergraduate Education - (Learners) - 3 hours
Join
in a conversation and then practice how we can and do implement these
ideas in our classes using a variety of processes including your Moodle
site.

- Identify way to implement these ideas in our classes using a variety of processes including your Moodle site.
- Share successes and challenges of selecting Moodle and other tools to support the seven principles.

- Discuss institutional policies and supports for classroom interactions.
- Analyze ways to effectively manage the learning environment.
Multiple Ways of Teaching for Learning - (Learners) - 3 hours
This seminar will focus on generic, content-free strategies that will enable you to enhance your students' learning and to apply all eight of Gardner's Multiple Intelligences.
Objectives/Outcomes
- Determine your own preferred ways to start learning and use a simple checklist to identify the profiles of the students in your courses.
- Identify ways that various ways of teaching can be used to engage learners in course content.
- Plan a lesson that enhances learning by using one or more of 120 ways.
Classroom Assessment Techniques - (Curriculum, Learners) - 3 hours
Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs) are a variety of easy activities that can be done in any classroom which are designed to give both instructors and students useful feedback on the teaching-learning process.

- Identify ways to assess how the process of teaching is impacting the learning of your students.
- Discuss how to get information that will improve student learning.
- Choose from 50 activities designed to give both instructors and students useful feedback on the teaching-learning process.
Introduction to Cooperative Learning - (Curriculum, Learners) - 3 hours
This introduction to Co-operative Learning will give you the basics of setting up and using effective learning teams.

- Discuss elements of effective group work.
- Experience cooperative structures to accomplish learning outcomes.
- Analyze the benefits of group and team skills in curricula.
- Identify ways to use groups and teams to enhance learning and critical thinking skills.
Creating Inclusive Classrooms - (Learners) - 3 hours
Join in the discussion of the many ways to make education open, responsive and relevant to students from across the human spectrum. The discussion will focus on how we can apply the knowledge, experiences, frames of reference, and learning styles of diverse students in order to make learning encounters more relevant and effective for them.

Creative Use of Instructional Media for Learning - (Learners) - 3 hours
Come and explore instructional media tools in this creative interactive workshop.

- Use the ASSURE model to plan for effective Instructional Media.
- Develop creative and engaging Instructional Media.
- Enhance student learning through instructional media design.
Developing Real World Assessments - (Curriculum) - 3 hours
This session will assist instructors to design Authentic Assessment strategies appropriate for their programs and courses. The challenges and possibilities of online assessment will also be discussed.

- Design defensible marking and grading strategies.
- Employ assessment strategies to increase student success.

Developing Your Teaching Portfolio Project - (Learners) - 3 hours
Discover what materials are relevant for a personal portfolio, present them in an organized fashion, and reflect upon your teaching values, philosophy and professional growth over time.

- Develop a plan for your own teaching portfolio.
- Begin the process of articulating your teaching philosophy.
- Explore various electronic teaching portfolio options.
- Start and extend your own portfolio development.
