ESL Electives
Electives for each level are different. Here are lists of electives for each level of English.
Foundation Level
(full-time student take the 2 core courses, plus 1 of the following electives)
- ELST 0061 Pronunciation 1 (3 credits)
Level 1
(full-time students take the 2 core courses, plus 1 of the following electives)
- ELST 0061 Pronunciation 1 (3 credits) or Grammar (3 credits) or ELST 0064 An Introduction to Canada (3 credits)
Level 2
(full-time students take the 2 core courses, plus 6 elective credits, choosing from the following options) 1 university level course of low language demand, such as:
- Mathematics (University Transfer)
- Science (physics and chemistry - University Transfer)
- Computer science (University Transfer)
- Philosophy - Basic Logic (3 credits - University Transfer)
Plus one of these ESL courses
- ELST 0261 Advanced pronunciation (3 Credits)
- ELST 0262 Grammar II (3 Credits)
- ELST 0365 English Culture (3 Credits)
- ELST 0267 Business Writing (3 Credits)
Level 3
(full-time students take the 2 core courses, plus elective 6 credits, choosing from the following options)up to 2 university level courses (3 or 6 credits) of low language demand:
- Mathematics (University Transfer)
- Science (physics and chemistry - University Transfer)
- Computer science (University Transfer)
- Philosophy - Basic Logic (3/6 Credits - University Transfer)
Or one university transfer courses plus one of these ESL courses
- ELST 0261 Advanced pronunciation 3 Credits
- ELST 0262 Grammar II 3 Credits
- ELST 0365 English Culture (3 Credits)
- ELST 0267 Business Writing (3 Credits)
