In addition to employment opportunities which are forwarded to students directly from the First Nations Education Coordinator, the following links lead to local resources often accessed by students.

Employment Opportunities

The Aboriginal Gathering Place provides an opportunity for aboriginal students to access academic support and form a connection with other students. Starting in September 2010, student tutoring will be offered in the Gathering Place, in addition to the Learning Centres on all four campuses. Strong KPU students are encouraged to contact gatheringplace@kwantlen.ca or 604-599-2900 for more information about becoming a student tutor. Some of the many benefits of being a tutor include:

  • Part-time income with flexible hours that work around your class schedule (tutors typically work 4-6 hours/week on average)
  • Valuable work experience and references
  • Coaching, training and mentoring for your own academic success
  • Giving back to the university community by helping others succeed
  • Exposure to other employment opportunities at KPU
  • College Reading & Learning Association Certification
